ADAPT seminar

Speaker: Dr. Benjamin Johnson (UCAR / JCSDA @ NOAA NCWCP)
Topic: "The Life of a Snowflake"

Room: 529 Walker Building (refreshments served)
Time: Friday April 27, 2018 3:30pm - 4:30pm
Abstract: Following the life of a snowflake, this talk will provide an illustrated journey of the creation, growth, transformation of a snowflake and, perhaps, a similar arc of a scientist who has studied them for a couple of decades. I'll discuss the physics behind snowflakes, and the impacts of various snow physical and thermodynamic properties on radiative transfer, remote sensing observations, retrieval methods, and data assimilation methods. I'll also speculate on the future of remote sensing, and how new satellite and analysis technologies are disrupting the way we learn and work -- for the better.
